Brock Hedding, the respected pastor of Heaven’s Gateway Church, the largest congregation in the city, has passed away. His wife, May Hedding, feels like rejoicing but she can’t let that show. The abuse she has endured by her husband’s hand has brought great trauma and pain to her soul. She longs to be made whole but isn’t sure that will ever happen. Although her husband is gone, her son Ben, the new pastor, is just as dominating and cruel as his father was.
Years earlier, Heaven sent dreams to a couple, Agatha and Chuck Hilliard, giving clear instructions that they were to transition to Heaven’s Gateway Church. Leaving their safe haven, Bread of Life Fellowship, and obeying the direction of their Lord was difficult. They knew they would be entering a war zone and were concerned how this would affect their children. Over the next years, through the direction of Holy Spirit, they minister to person after person, bringing healing to those wounded by the church.
The worship leader, Camden Scott, although beginning with a pure heart, is seduced by the enemy infiltrating the church and is led astray by a beautiful woman, bringing pain to his family and disillusionment to others who have placed their trust in him.
The youth group of Heaven’s Gateway is not beyond the reach of the tyrannical rule of the leadership and many become disillusioned. Those who have a close relationship with their Lord are directed to help and bring healing.
Through all the injustice and pain inflicted, God is still on the move. No pain is too great, no disappointment too crushing, and no wounding so severe that Heaven cannot heal. The true church of Jesus Christ still advances and God is still in the business of saving souls and healing hearts, no matter how wounded or deceived.
Assignment Code 316 is a deep dive into the church, its glory moments and the dysfunction within it. God has promised that nothing will prevail against the church. Heaven and the angels are constantly working on our behalf and the events on earth are all intricately connected. God the Father is completely able to purify his church so that we are radiant, free of every stain and wrinkle or any other blemish, holy and blameless.
